Erie Bike Co-op

The SSJNN Bike Program is in a transition! We’re rebranding, expanding our hours, carrying a full feature of mechanic services, new and used parts, education, workspace, community and (most of all!) *Bikes* as The Erie Bike Cooperative!

Hey Everyone! This is a brand new project and we welcome your input, ideas, and participation as the co-op takes shape.

If you like what we’re doing and would like to support us: Volunteering at the shop, donating bicycles or dollars, and attending our classes and events are all much appreciated.

Frequently Asked Questions

📍 Where are you located?

Our shop is located at 436 E 26th St, Erie, PA 16504

Enter next to the garage doors at the north-side of the parking lot. The door is marked Erie Bike Co-op. (We share a building with SSJNN’s east side office.)

🕰️ When are you open?

We’re open: Wednesdays: 12 PM – 5 PM; Thursdays: 4 PM – 8 PM; Saturdays: 10 AM – 2 PM

Open House: 4th Tuesday each month, 4 PM - 7 PM

No appointment needed — just stop by during open hours!

🚲 Do you sell or give away bikes?

Yes! Our goal is to make quality used bikes accessible to anyone needed reliable transportation. We offer bikes on a pay-what-you-can/ donation basis.

If you need a bike for commuting, work, health, or daily life, stop by during open hours to see what’s available. If you’d like to volunteer in exchange for a bike, we’re grateful for the help.

🧰 Do you offer bike repairs?

Yes! — especially for those who rely on their bikes for daily transportation. Repairs are offered on a sliding scale, and we encourage people to learn how to fix their own bikes with our guidance if they’re interested. Starting May 2025, we will offer basic repair classes like Fix a Flat and Bike Maintenance 101.

🔧 Can I volunteer to help at the bike shop?

We’re a volunteer-run project, whether you have bike mechanic skills or just want to lend a hand. Stop by during open hours, our monthly open house, or reach out (link to volunteer intake or newsletter sign up) to learn about volunteer opportunities — we’d be happy to show you around.

🚴‍♂️ Do you accept bike donations?

Yes — we gratefully accept used bikes! Whether they need a little love or are ready to ride, we’ll fix them up or use them for parts.

You can drop off bikes during open hours, or make a donation appointment here.

💡 Can I drop off parts, like training wheels or accessories?

Yes! If you have parts, training wheels, or bike gear to donate, you can bring them during open hours.

🚲 Do you have bikes for kids or specific sizes?

We receive a variety of bikes, including children’s bikes, mountain bikes, cruisers, and road bikes. Our stock changes all the time, so the best way to check is to visit in person. “Project bikes” needing basic repairs are always available, but fully repaired bikes are in high demand so check back often.

💬 I called and didn’t get an answer.

We are a volunteer crew who spend most of our time working on bicycles. The best way to reach us is to stop by the shop during open hours. We do our best to return voicemails and emails eventually! Thank you for your patience.
